Remembering Tom Weaver

Sep 28, 2021

As we put the finishing touches on our new Positively Living & Choice Health Network headquarters on Ailor Avenue in Knoxville, we recently installed a beautiful tribute we couldn’t help but share.

A generous supporter wished to make a gift in memory of their dear friend, Tom Weaver. They said: “Tom was a very special person. He died too soon [from HIV/AIDS] but we both believed that to live in the hearts of those we leave behind is not to die. This plaque tells a story about Tom to anyone that reads it. He would have loved this organization, that helps people who have nowhere else to go. I hope this will inspire others who have someone they love, someone who deserves to be remembered in a way that’s unique, to support this cause.

Space for dedications in our new facility are limited. If you are interested in making a permanent dedication or in sponsoring a space, please email [email protected] today.

The State of Tennessee’s decision to not accept federal funding for HIV prevention services came as a surprise to us and similar organizations. While we remain hopeful for a resolution, as things stand now, our contract to provide these services will end May 31, 2023. Our team is exploring ways to ensure that these important services will remain available in our community and will keep you apprised of those efforts.

Ryan White and HOPWA services, along with our medical clinic, are not affected by this decision.

In late 2022, Positively Living/Choice Health Network was named an HIV/AIDS Center of Excellence – validating the quality of care we provide the community. All of our services continue uninterrupted, and our locations across the state are open.

Thank you for trusting us with your care. Together, we will keep working toward a future of health, equity and hope.
